I'm embarrassed about how long it's been since I posted. Oh, well, life happens.
Since it's still the beginning of the year, I wanted to post something in honor of Janus, and what could be better than garden gates? On my walks and bike rides around the neighborhood, I've been struck by what gates tell us about the occupants.

What a fun post! Loved all these gates, well, except maybe the first. Yes, your garden gate is very inviting, as is that arbor-covered gate in the previous photo. Oh, how I wish I had $$$$ for a really awesome gate! It's good to have something to dream of, I guess.
I enjoyed the tour of your neighborhood gates. Yours is really nice. I love all the plantings around it. Good to see you posting again!

Thanks, everyone. It's nice to be missed! I want to post frequently but I am taking some weird meds (for an equally weird skin condition) that were originally prescribed as sedatives but work for this problem. So, I have to take them in the evening, which is when I really like to write ... All very trying, but I remember to count my many blessings. :-)
Welcome back! You do have some interesting...and a few serious, heavy duty fences in your neighborhood. Everything does look so nice and green down your way.
Hey, Susan. It's nice to be back. Well, we had about 4" of rain yesterday and it's hot and sticky today. I think I'll even have to mow the lawn for the first time in two months!

That first gate is rather unwelcoming. I have to agree that the way your pavers are laid out adds to the appeal of your path. I bet the man who lives in the house with the whimsical gate is someone's funny uncle.
Thanks, MBT. My great aunt lived in a thatched cottage built in the 16thC and the garden paths were all laid out like that. I always wanted to copy them.
